About Me!

Hi, I'm Lauren Heaney!

I am an Irish photographer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I studied Photography with video at Ulster University from 2021 to 2024. With a background working in healthcare, I use my photography to bring awareness to health practices and issues.

I use photography and video within my series. My practice focuses on a range of subjects using themes of health, the body and pain. My photographs use emotions to give insight into how I felt about the subject matter. I use different mediums alongside my photographs, such as text, paint and embroidery, to bring texture into my work.

My practice involves experimenting with non-photographic materials and combining them with photography to create unique work. These mediums are used to give a broader context to my photographs and series. I use texture in my work to bring a 3-dimensional aspect to my photographs, utilizing this to also make original work.

When not photographing for my photographic series I love to travel and document the scenery around me!
